Default You can run the rear channels bridged to power the sub.

I think it's about 150W bridged. That may be too little to run a sub. Even though you don't listen at high volume, more power is always better.

Default There's lots of us that would disagree with the MBQ Sucks...but to each his own.

One thing I have noticed is that most of the people that don't like MBQs, have listened to the lowest end model that was set up and tuned poorly. Poor installs will make any speaker sound ****ty. MBQs are more critical to install than most other speakers though so that can be good and bad. I have Q series in one car and Premium series in another and I love the Qs. These are Qs before Fosgate got in the way.

Since I see you're considering Focals, I've heard Focals sound just as bright as MBQs and I'm not talking Focal's lowest line either. Unforutnely, I work somewhere that I have to listen to car audio speakers on a daily basis. If you buy Quart, you have to buy the high end....I like the Focal 165V1s , V2s and the K2Ps. We've installed many of theses. Depending on the set up, they weren't so nice on the ear drums as well.

Key word to good sound will always be the same,

INSTALL, INSTALL, INSTALL.

Default That's a good HU. I have that one and a 9815. I honestly think the 9815 sounds better. One thing

I do like better about the 7977 is that it's a dead head. Moved it from the S to the C and the 9815 is in the S. Those are some of the last good HUs by Alpine. That ****ed up with the Glide touch ****. Don't get me started on my feeling about the 9853 and 9855. They're getting away from what made them good. Too much flash.

Default Alpine made a big mistake with the 9853 and 9855 that's why the glide touch is gone!

You should have gotten a older 7977, 9815 or 9835. I don't think I'll be any newer Alpines anymore. I've been a fan for 15 years, but they are starting to mess up now a days. Atleast when it comes to good CD Headunits lately. It's form over function now...too many gimicks (sp?).

Default the glidetouch sucked, but that wasn't the core of the problem

the interface, on a whole, sucked.

it took 10 seconds to display the XM information when changing channels, for example

Default Had BA pros in my 2000 A4 and they were pretty good. Now what am I going to do . . .

. . . with my 2001 A4 since MB quart doesn't make those 5 1/4 front door adapters anymore? I was running 50W RMS through each of the 4 channels and had the front crossover cut the 5 1/4 cut off at 200 Hz. It was crisp and clean when turned up!

Default sorry for the negative reaction lol. I bought the MBQUART's premium i think? the one right below

Q series.... I hated them, I lowered the LB of crossover to the lowest and still was hurting my ears whenever I volume up. It was just so torturing. I have listened to boston and focal with same amp that I hooked up with MBQUART and sound sooooooo much better and relaxing to my ears. Im glad MB QUART makes Q speakers sound very nice but not many people can buy 1k component systems. So I recommend people to go with focal or boston because I know they will like it in long term.
