Default Speaker +ve & -ve connectors reversed

I've just replaced all 4 door speakers in my 98 A6 Avant, but I've realised that I have connected them all up with the +ve & -ve connections reversed. I had always thought that the wire with the stripe was the +ve, but a closer look at the head unit wiring shows it is -ve.

It was hard to get the door covers back on so I am reluctant to take them all off again. The thing is the sound is fine, obviously it is better anyway with the new speakers than the stock, but it does not seem poor quality or distorted etc.

Should I just leave them as they are or do I need to strip the doors and swap the connectors round?

TIA

that just reverses the phase, it's also just a preference

Thanks for your reply.

I'm a novice at this - can you let me know what the phase is and the effect of reversing it?

What difference does that make to the sound quality?

Thanks for your help - but I would be interested in the technicals of what it means. The only way I can test what switching them back to normal will sound like in comparison is to take all the door covers off again ..which is what I was trying to avoid.

How does it sound different / what sounds different? Has anyone got their speakers reverse phased for preference.

Default basically when it "hits" it's not as sudden, like a slower "hit"

thats how my subs feel, sometimes there is no difference

Default As long as you did all of them like that it'll be fine....

It'll have a reversed phase just as it's been explained already.

The problem is when some speakers are out of phase from the others, the waves can cancel one another and it'll sound like poop. The 2002 MKIV (my wife's Jetta) had a speaker out of phase from the factory, there was a whole batch of wrong wiring harnesses.
