Ok so i have an A6 Avant Quattro. The guy I bought it from couldn't find the battery. So he had to jump it a few times and claims the stereo (aftermarket Pioneer Premier) is fried. There are no blown fuses, and I have no clue what to do. Could there be a bad wire? Could there be anything else? I need some help because I need some tunes! thanks...

Pull the stereo and check for power to the wiring in back. Probably will need a Bentley manual and some radio removal tools

Do a google search to find places that sell them

It can be one of three things.
1. There is a fuse on the back of the Pioneer radio itself, if its blown the radio wont turn on.
2. There is also a small black box on the radio's Yellow wire, it has a resistor in it. I dont know why Pioneer puts them on the radios. It is supposed to condition the power to keep it "clean", but instead they crap out & it actually prevents the radio for getting power. Cutting it out & bypassing will fix it.
3. The radio really is dead. Sometimes electronics just give up the ghost, nothing that can really be done to fix.
The aftermarket radio will have a plastic kit with its own locking cage, and will require Pioneer specific keys. The ones pictured above wont do anything for you. Any car stereo shop will have tons of these laying around & should give you a set if asked. I would guess the fuses blew when he jumped the car, and replaced all the blown ones except the one on the back of the deck.

Pioneers sometimes have internal "pico" fuses too... but head unit removal and a voltmeter are required. No Bentley manual is required - just measure for constant and switched power at the back of the radio.
