Stereo system install pics (including kickpanels and stealth sub install)

BA recommends (demands) 1 cubic foot for their 12, and either 0.8 or 0.7 for their 10.
I know that too large of a box will blow the sub, as I have read numerous reviews from people who did such a thing. But I don't know of anyone commenting on too small of a box. I think mine came out to 0.7, but that's the installer's guess. He should have notified me that it wouldn't be big enough (I offered to replace the 12 with a 10), but I guess he wanted to try it and see for himself. Maybe it's wired improperly, but I doubt it.

What kind of power is it getting? Was it being played loud when it blew?
I just think that power had no effect on it blowing. If your box volume is about 0.7 I would say that you're probably getting a lot of midbass punch but not too much lows. But like I said, the smaller box would handle more power than a smaller box so I don't think too much power was the cause. I think that probably overheating due to distorsion was probably the cause of blowing. In any case, just for SQ purposes, I would either try to enlarge the box to at least 0.85 or try a 10" and see if you like it.

I know it wasn't the power that did it.
I'm running an old school Punch 100 on it, that puts out about 350. The BA is spec'd to handle well over 1000. It shouldn't have been distorting, as I think the gains were reasonably set, but I'm going to check all of that this weekend.
It blew on a bass test disc. I wanted to run it through the paces, and it crapped out. I'm kind of glad, too, because at least it happened now and under warranty, rather than later. If a sub doesn't handle a test disc, then something's wrong. Doesn't have to reproduce all of the tones, but it should stay alive regardless.

Actually playing sines waves are the toughest workout for a speaker.
That's why it usually tells you to be cautious about volume while playing test tones on the disc. Very easy to blow subs on test tones.

nicely done
im thinking of going the same route - originally i wanted 2 10's in a false floor using the spare tire well, but im not sure if that would sound good. how much did just the sub enclosure cost and who did it for you? im looking for good shops, and i live in annapolis

nice install... that headunit looks kinda lone ranger though, gotta get something to accompany it
but the finish of it looks really nice and it matches the AC console thingy very good...do you happen to know what materials they used to create it?

Just some ABS plastic, I think, then painted to match the console.
I know that the head unit is mounted separately, through use of the metal cage, and that the black plastic trim piece is pressure-fit in front to give an ISO-DIN appearance.
I thought about some guages, but I don't really like that look, plus it's too difficult to take my eyes off of the road to glance at them. I have no interest in a 1/2 DIN EQ or anything, either, as I don't like extraneous components. I do have an old Alpine EQ for sale, though, if anyone's interested!

Not a sine wave, but a sweeping high to low note.
I think I was jamming it a bit too hard (silly me), so perhaps all is normal, and I just have to back off on the strenuous stuff. It handled normal music beautifully, though.
