Default sub bass and trunk insulation?

Hi.

I have a 99.5 A4 without the ski bag option, and read on another forum that European cars are too well insulated and that sub bass wouldn't effectively pass through into the cabin, without either travelling through the ski bag area (which I don't have) or through the rear speakers area by removing the rear speakers completely. I like rear fill and want to keep my rears in.

I was wondering firstly how true this is? and if so, secondly, how can I add a sub on a tight budget and get good SQ?

Thanks.

Default subs run fine, needs inches of insulation to really block sound

sub on tight budget? anything at least $200 for subs and $30 for wiring is good.

infinity basslink is simple solution for $200 off ebay

I can tell a difference with my arm rest down vs. up. But both sound real good.
