Sub Level

Sub Level
I have a ID 10" DVC sub hooked up to a a/d/s P440 amp. The amp puts out 2x200 when bridged (which it is) The Sub is very quiet. I took it to a shop and had them screw with it and they made it sound perfect. Thing is i had to swap out the amp they adjusted with the exact same amp (other one fried) My question is, what can i do to increase the sub level? I dont want to pay to have a shop do it again. I have an Alpine head unit and the sub level is turned up all the way.

Well there are a couple things
On the amp sometimes there is sortof a "bass boost" and this can be adjusted up to give you more, but I don't recommend it, cause it typically only adjusts one portion of the freq band, and this will give you a peak at that freq. It's better to adjust the gain on the amp instead. The gain is how sensitive the amp is to the voltage signal it's getting from your head unit. If you have your amp manual, look in there to find out where the gain is on your amp (sometimes they are hidden under extra panels) and adjust it with a screwdriver. Just adjust to taste. If it's already all the way to sensitive, then there isn't much you *can* do.
