Default cool. SQ == sound quality?

Thanks for the info. I've never understood the point of SPL and bass output contests, but I suppose, to each his own.

Default i guess you'd call it "break-in" when operating subs at close to zero or below zero

temperatures. meanwhile, he really means don't pump them too hard until they are warmed up if they have big magnet.

Default SQ=Sound Quality; SPL contests = $$$ for the car audio industry.

It's loud and attracts alot of attention and compared to SQ contests, it's alot more exciting for spectators. It's cheaper to compete in SPL than SQ. In addition it's good advertising and if you think about how much equipment is damaged for SPL contests, it could be a total cash cow for car audio companies.

Why else do they have 'enduro' SPL contests?? Play a test tone as loud as you can for as long as you can. Guy who breaks first looses. As the voltage drops, the amps distort and blow up the woofers and sometimes this takes out the amps too.

Default oooooh....i dont know about that one

anybody can buy a pair of quad coil RE MT 18", port tune to 40hz , and strap 8 amps to them running at .7 ohm each(give or take) and get into the high 150s

but a good set of rainbows or dynaudios, mcintosh or brax amps and you're already over the price of the spl machine.

yup. SQ is $$$ compared to SPL cars. The trick is to get 150+'s with 1-12"

Yeah, it's amazing that some people can hit in the 140's and 150's with a single woofer

Default OT question:

How do you like the ice link for your iPod? Does it also charge while in use? Do your radio buttons control the iPod? Cost? Thanks!
