I had my battery replaced for the first time in my '97 1.8tQ and now my Delta radio is in "SAFE" mode. The code I used is not working and the dealer confirmed that it was the correct code. I'm guessing that whoever coded it used the wrong number. In either case, the dealer wants $300 for a new Delta radio (as if).
What options do I have at this point? Can I get a new Concert radio instead? Is aftermarket better?
Suggestions appreciated.

you could install it yourself but you just need to get an audi or volkswagon wiring harness

I called Claire's and said they could give me a replacement for $170 with core exchange of my defective unit. The problem with that was that if the core couldn't be refurbished, it would cost an additional $600. So I ended up getting a Blaupunkt Sydney + CD Changer combo from Continental Imports. Now the question is where to mount the changer...
