Default Switched +12V feed in TT

Hi all,

I'm about to start the project of replacing the stock Concert radio in my 2004 TT 3.2 this week-end.

One thing that I've noticed is that, after turning off the engine, the stock radio turns off as well, even if I keep the key in the ignition. My 2000 VW GTI had a similar key "feel" where there's only 2 positions, however after turning the key to the "off" position to kill the engine, the radio would stay on until I removed the key.

Last month I installed a cell phone car kit for my Samsung i700, and used the yellow connector shown below (thanks Jeff B!) for switched ignition:

It seems that this connector also goes to 0V after killing the engine, but even before removing the key from ignition.
This doesn't bother me so much since the cell phone stay on until I actually remove it from the cradle, so even if the kit turns off in the same time I turn the engine off I can keep using the phone.

For the radio however, I'd like it to stay on until I actually remove the key from ignition.
Is there a connector on the radio harness or in the fuse box that would perform such function, i.e. stay at +12V after turning the engine off until the key is removed, as opposed to immediately going to 0V?

Thanks!
-Marc

Default You need to locate the S-Kont (Radio) fuse

On later models Audi seemed to have removed the switched ignition feed to the HU. They use the CAN-BUS to send digital signals to the HU to tell it when the ignition is on, off etc. This allows the HU to be programmed to do different things without re-wiring (i.e. allows it to be turned back on with the keys out etc).
I've had to do this on a late model S3, where the ignition on feed was completely missing (the wire 3 opins along from the permanent live on the ISO power connector). It should be a Red wire with either yellow or white stripe. It is either fuse 10 or 30 on the S3/A3 fusebox and called S-Kont (Radio) with a 10amp fuse. Locate the right fuse and check it switches on with ignition & off when you take the keys out.
This will give you Radio on as long as the keys are left in after ignition off.
Cheers, Andy

Default That was it!!! Fuse #10 labeled "S-Contact" (10 amps)

This is EXACLY what I needed, thanks Andy!
The voltage goes to +12 when ignition is on, and also after engine is started, but most importantly it STAYS ON even after the engine is shut off (and before the key is removed).

It's actually a yellow wire with red stripe, for future reference.

Thanks again Andy!!
