Default Symphony 2

I have a symphony 2, and do not want to get rid of it as it cost me a lot, looks good and I like the built in 6 cd changer. However I would like to add this to it so that it gives me 2 rca's, at the moment I am using a line level converter but I'm sure that it is degrading the signal quality. I am wondering if I can add this, the product description is 'Audi A3/A4/A6 and A8 active system wiring adaptor for all RCA equipped radios Price (Inc. VAT & Carriage): £14.99', sounds like it's only for after market radios but I don't know?

Default try this from autotoys.com

this is a specific adapter for Audi 'Symphony' H/U's.
since you have to plug it in at the back of the H/U, you can run the jacks out somewhere easy to get at.
buy an adapter cable at Rat-Shack, RCA males to 1/8" mini plug, and you are home free.

Default Yeah would like line outs please

Is it too messy to strip the wires for the line outs to the rear amp and turn them into RCA's I've heard that you get a lot of noise if you do this?

Default The Symphony 2 has line-level outputs...

...the question is whether the adapter you show is the right thing for providing RCA jacks for the line-level outputs. I cannot tell you for sure if that adapter will do the job as I am not familiar with it. I do know that there is an adapter you can get from Continental Imports. The problem with it is that the CD/CAN/LINE-OUT plug on the radio is a one piece plug...and the adapter from Continental Imports is only one third of that plug.

In my install, I have a Blitzsafe Aux Input adapter. The blitzsafe adapter actually has three separate (but linked) plugs for the CD/CAN/LINE-OUT...so my plan is to use the Continental Imports plug with the Blitzsafe. Sounds more confusing than it is...and I hope to post pictures when I actually finish the install.

That adapter you show is not that expensive. The best way to figure out if it will do what you want is ot but it and try.

Click for Continental Imports Adapter

are you trying to get line-outputs for and amp/sub?
what are you going to do about the rear speakers, i thought when you do this you lose the rear speakers.

Default Yes and no.

In the A4, the Symphony 2 sends the line-out feed to the rear amp...which feeds the sub and rear door speakers...while the head unit provides power for the front speakers (and center channel). So, the adapter that I referred to in my previous post will provide front and rear line-level outputs (as well as a remote amp turn-on lead). It's up to you what you do with them and how you power everything.
