I got a nice deal on a 2-channel rockford amp, but its rms is 140w X 2. I have speakers whose max rms is 140w. I want some head-room for the speakers, but im not sure how i can power down my amp. tia

It's actually much easier to blow speakers by trying to drive them with too little power than too much. Of course you can go completely over-kill and fry a voice coil with too much power but it's much more common to blow a speaker by trying to play it too loud with not enough power...resulting in distortion and bye bye speaker.
