Default Is there a dedicated external screen for the iPod available yet?

With so many iPod integration solutions plugging into the auxiliary input or connecting via a proprietary HU plug in the back, there's a lack of a large display for what music is playing.

Has anyone seen an external display for the iPod that would connect directly to the iPod and provide a standard iPod socket for completing the connection (either to a charger or HU adapter)? I haven't been able to find one yet. Seems like a very simple feature to provide.

Harmon Kardon has one (above), but it's about 3 years behind iPod technology... and you have to rig up the whole control system, which I've heard is not very good (original $400 price now at $75 speaks for itself).

Default Harmon Kardon has come out with version 2.0

This actually looks like a decent step up. Some investigation needed to see if it has really caught up with the latest iPod...

It's also packed with features like Sirius Satellite capability and Bluetooth phone connectivity. Though if it costs as much as an iPod touch, forget it (the 3.5" screen of the iPod touch would work just fine).

Harmon Kardon Drive + Play 2

Default I've installed a few of these I really like them

that and with employee accomodations, it makes them pretty cheap.

Default At $399 a pop, it's very expensive. No one seems to be budging on that price either.

You're just better off buying a nice head unit that can accommodate iPods, MP3 CD's, MP3 DVD's, and USB drives. Now it's just a matter of finding one that works well and is compatible with your car!

Default nor should they. At $399 it's a great option.

My price is $300 after shipping.

The real winner is the Harman Kardon GPS-810NA normally $599, I pay $500 after shipping.

HK link

Default The GPS-810NA looks nice, but there are some drawbacks...

"Easy-to-use and requiring no installation". So that means no direct wiring to the speakers. FM transmitter? Forget it.
