Default For those who have used the MBQuart adaptor for front speakers, please read>>>>

When you install the speakers to the adaptor, is there supposed to be a gap between the speaker and the adaptor? I'm planning to use the adaptor for Diamond 5-1/4, M551's. When you put the speaker up to the adaptor, it sits on teh four raised pieces of plastic that surround the screw holes instead of right up against the mount. It seems like the speaker should fit flush against the adaptor to get the proper sound quality. Did anyone cut those plastic pieces off (which I am inclined to do)?

Thanks for your help. And pictures would be great!

I had to cut, much like MarkP, to clear the metal brace.

Default I didn't have to cut but....

there were hairline gaps around the edges of my focals. I epoxied them to the adapter and the adapter to the door (yes, this is a very permanent setup)

There is no air leakage, and much less sound leakage. =)

Default off topic: where did you get the adaptors?

I'm in the middle of a full install of a new system, and I've decided I need those adaptors. Just can't seem to fabricate something myself that works.

Default Re: off topic: where did you get the adaptors?

I bought mine directly from MBQuart. I paid MSRP ($44 for front, $44 for back), but I got them in one day. They fedexed them to me for $5 shipping. Check a few posts down. I posted the phone number and ordering info.
