I have a B5 A4 with the double-height stock radio. I am planning to build a carputer, and I'm trying to figure out what will fit, both from a physical standpoint, and from a software/compatibility standpoint.
So for the physical fit, here's my question:
I have heard Lilliput is the way to go. I know the 7" LCD will fit in the Audi stock radio hole. Will the 8.4" display they make fit there?
The software question is:
Will both screens work with Linux? (I use Gentoo)
Thanks!

the lilliput was the screen of choice back in the day. there are plenty of good screens out there. might be time to hit up mp3car.com forums. so much info there in the display section.
for the 8.4", just measure the din opening and look at the dimensions of the screen online.
if you have to ask if the screens will work with linux, then maybe you need to read more about configuring X. depends on your video card and its ability to drive the weird resolution (like 800x480). I see little reason to think that it wouldn't work with the right tweaking.
