Hi All, Happy New year !
I am after some advice, my MMi unit in my A5 has just randomly started having issues, the radio has stopped working completely and any connected media plays but resets every 20 seconds which makes it pretty much unusable.
I have tried taking it to a local VW/Audi specialist in Basingstoke by they just said the main mmi unit had failed and needs replacing and gave me an absolutely crazy quote for a new one, it just didn't sound or feel right so I told them no thanks,
I have also checked all fuses and signs of damage in the rear passenger side compartment where the amp and Radio box is located and all looks fine and also ran it through a diag and it just said radio fail and a fibre optic error.
Can anyone please give me some advice on how to try and get this sorted or recommend a decent company I can talk to about this that's reasonably close to Reading ?
Many Thanks
Dan

Hi, Nope, still not sorted, having to resort to using a crappy BT speaker in my car now, so frustrating, There companies out there that can update the firmware or replace the main unit etc but these are really expensive options that I cant afford.
Just seems totally bonkers and surely there's a simple fix here yet its like trying to find a needle in a haystack,
If there's anyone out there that is familiar with these electrical issues ? Please get in touch !

Hi Simaservis,
Thanks for the reply, sounds interesting !
, What do you need me to take a photo of exactly ? , sorry complete novice here.
I have photos of the radio / amp unit in the passenger side rear compartment, do you need these ? do you just need to know whether the main 5F unit is a 3G Plus ? which it is as it has 2 x SD card slots on the front. Please let me know what you need and I will get on it.
How do you think we can get get this sorted ?
Cheers
Dan
