Went to an audio shop and explained that I wanted to enhance the "low end" of my stock sound system. Here is what they came up with:
<b>Memphis 16-MC250D</b> @<font color="green">$199</font>
250 X 1 Class D Subwoofer Amplifier --> <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18797&item=5744299 977&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW" target="_top">Link1</a> : <a href="http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/LiveImages/114/8/DocumentURL.pdf" target="_top">Link2</a>
<b>Memphis 15-PR104D</b> @<font color="green">$80</font>
10" Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer --> <a href="http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/details.asp?cat=&id=55&p=2" target="_top">Link1</a> : <a href="http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/LiveImages/112/55/DocumentURL1.pdf" target="_top">Link2</a>
They said they would use an AudioLink Powerlink II to tap into the signal near the rear speakers. The subwoofer would be secured behind the rear driver passenger seat in the trunk (allowing full access to the ski sack) and they said they could completely hide the amp behind the carpeted walls of the trunk. The stock Bose subwoofer would also be disabled and a gain control **** installed in the cabin wherever I wanted it.
Does this sound like a reasonable setup? Oh, the cost for the whole kit-and-kaboodle would be $450 plus tax.
Any and all feedback would be appreciated.

you could do the install yourself and save the 200+ dollars
if you arent comfortable with that, its about an average price i've seen for a basic install.

on my a6 i removed the ski bag and the 10 plays through the armrest area. i have 500w rms driving an alpine type r i get really clean kickass bass. when the armrest is up its barely enough bass. i listen to no rap, clean bass, no trunk rattle

Albeit I do not use it very often, there is the time-to-time trip up to the resorts that calls for its use.
As for my music listening habits, I listen to a little bit of everything, with the notable exception of country music. Forays into urban music are not unheard of, so some extra bass for that would be appreciated. Keep in mind, of course, that I obviously do not want a competition sound system or want anything that is going to draw unwarranted attention.

although you might want to look into how they're going to hide the amp...usually amps need some air to cool down and its kinda cramped in the space behind the factory carpet

the amp behind the carpeted wall. I'd like to do something similar. If you can take some pictures.
Sounds like a good system....Later
