Default Weird problem w/ CD Changer.... advice? [long'ish]

S4 is wonderful.... yaddy-yaddy-yaddah...

But...! Installed the approved Panasonic CD changer, w/ adapter cable, and it won't respond to
the CDC button (on the Bose head unit) unless the cartridge is removed and then
re-inserted with power on. Here are the exact conditions:

- CD on dash works perferctly - no issues/problems at all. Power on, off, regardless of
car running or not, switches to radio and back just fine. Retains last track and song
position perfectly when power is turned back on.

===With Engine off, and CD cartridge already inserted:
- Turn on radio: CD player, radio all work fine. CD changer will not respond to CDC
button on front panel at all.

- With Bose power on, go to trunk, eject cartridge, re-insert.... and voila'! Everthing
works fine. Can switch between CD, CD changer, and radio with impunity.

- Now, with CD changer playing, turn off Bose power button.
1) If I turn power back on immediately, CD changer works fine, picks up right where it
was...
2) IF Bose power is off for more than 2 seconds, the CDC button briefly lights (~1 sec.),
and then switches to the CD player (if CD is present) or back to the radio. After that,
the CD changer will not respond at all until the cartridge is ejected/reinserted while Bose
power is on.

Now with engine running:
- The CD changer will not respond at all until ejected/re-inserted.
- Once that is done, it works perfectlly, switching between all (CD, radio, etc.)
.... AND! I can now turn off the Bose power.... wait forever... turn the Bose back on
and the CD changer picks up where it left off, or will switch from radio (if that's what
was on at time of power-off)

arrgggg...

While, yes, I do have a work-around (run to trunk, open trunk, open left access hatch,
open CD-changer cartridge-cover door, press button and eject cartridge, re-insert
cartridge, close CD cartridge cover door, close access hatch, close trunk, get in car,
close door)... I don't want to keep doing that!!

It seems to be an initialization problem... So, here are my possibilities:
1) Bad changer?
2) Bad Bose system?
3) Bose doesn't recognize CD changer in power-off mode (because it's it was installed
as after-market and the head unit is not "keyed/sync'd" to the CD changer?

I seem to recall an earlier thread about needing to go to dealer to get the head unit and
CD changer "sync'd".... ??

Any advice, insight is of course immensely appreciated!

Default Yes...need to recode...

Just looked at the CD installation TSB at

http://tech.vw.com

It talks about recoding the HU after installing the CD changer. That's probably your problem.

Good luck.
