Default Professionally done. There are intake and exhaust fans under those metal grills.

No heat problems at all but my gains are all at minimum so there's not as much heat generated as you would expect. The sub amp does get warm but it has never shut down. It has it's own intake and exhaust fans in the case too.

Default I thought of that. What I'm thinking about doing as of this moment is modifying the oem plastic

bracket and using it as a frame to fiberglass the enclosure. I called my dealer this morning and a bracket is only $65.00. Looking things over I'm fairly certain I can get at least 1.3 to 1.5 cF of space for my sub while keeping it flush with the false side wall.

I'm thinking of purchasing an eD 130v.2 12" sub for the enclosure. It's recommended sealed enclosure size is 1 cF and has great power handling for my 600 wrms @ 2 ohms sub amp. I'm really looking for sound quality and not quantity. I want it to play loud enough to be clear.

I'm very used to the sound output of a 12" sub. I thought of going with a single 10", but I'm concerned I won't be happy with the output. I could be wrong.

Default In looking a little closer at the rear deck, it's no wonder there's little audible sound from the

stock sub. Their attempt at an IB (infinite baffle) setup is terrible. There are enough holes in the rear deck to cancel any forward waves from the driver. I'd equate the setup to setting a driver in the middle of the floor of a room and playing it while wondering why there's no bass sound.

I think the stock sub does something, but what it does is very very little. What a waste...

BTW: I drove my coworker around at lunch today and he is a fellow music lover. He never noticed the sub was missing until I told him. He agrees that the stock sub does nothing.

Is there a sub in my A4 Avant? I certainly can't hear/feel one! Where is it supposed to be?

YES! It's in the rear behind the rear wheel well. I just don't know which side.

Default well....I guess I need to get going on your harness. :) ........more...

I know that you said that you weren't planning on adding xm or sirius...but I would highly recommend relocating those connectors so they are accessible if you change your mind later.

Talk to ya on email....

What are you going to do with the XM module? Where are you going to put it?

Default After taking the car apart and getting a good look around...

I'm having second thoughts about the fiberglass enclosure in the cubby space. I'd have to do too much permanent modding to get the enclosure in there. The cubby door is attached unlike the one in my B5. I really don't want to cut that stuff up on the car.

So to answer your question, my XM module is going to stay right where it is now. I have a different idea for the sub...for now at least. When my new equipment gets here next week I'll post up about the install and tuning.
