Properly for Infinite Baffle=
Speakers have correct T-S Parameters for IB.
Front output is totally isolated from rear output, meaning that you should probably install the baffle board and then proceed to fiberglass the entire trunk, since IT is the enclosure.
Correct amount of power for speaker/enclosure.
A low frequency cutoff, like a high pass for the sub's low end, to limit distortion that is always present due to limitations of the speaker's suspensions.
Some people love to yell and shout the glories of their "aperiodic membranes." This is nothing but some fiberglass insulation that makes up a wall of the enclosure for the subs. It provides variable resistance according to the speaker's excursion. Dynaudio makes a great little round one called a variovent.

After seeing your post the other day, I emailed Element and left a voicemail for them--no response. I'm getting the impression they're not going to get back to me.
Info please.
Thanks,
John

in some past experimentation I stumbled on some
great sound by porting, and stuffing the port
with wool.
RAndall
tried: (with varing degress of success)
infinite baffle
sealed
bass reflex
labrynth (transmission line)
high order (6,7,8)
helmholtz
clamshell subs (i forget the name, supposedly cancels odd harmonics)--oh yeah isobarik
sheesh

... used two IB subs with an aperiodic membrane that Clark later marketed through his AS2k company. IIRC, that GN almost never left a show with anything less than 1st place, and won the Georgia masters ($25k first prize) more than once.
It's been a long time since I heard this stuff, so I could easily be off on the exact details.
In any case, the point is that a no holds barred system, with many hundreds of hours of engineering time in it, used IB subs with aperiodic membranes *and* stood up to critical review. This speaks well for a *properly* done IB setup if you asked me.
