what would the advantages of running a car audio system at 4 ohms or 2 ohms be???

am putting together a list of different pieces I want to get for my audio system and find many of the subs come in either a 2 ohm or a 4 ohm version. just trying to learn a lil more about this stuff before actually getting myself into the decision making process.

Depends on what your amp can handle. How many subs you plan on running and how you plan on wireing the subs. Back to the amp, in laymens term without too much detail, the power rating on most amps is 4ohm i.e 500watts@4ohms. If the amp is able to run at 2ohms without problems you can get 1000watts@4ohms. Some amps can go down to 1ohm or even .5ohm without overheating.

i was thinking just adding 1 10" sub for a lil added bass, dont want something that is gonna shake the neighborhood.
