Default Soft silk is a smoother less bright sounding tweeter..Titanium and Aluminum tweeters are very harsh

But able to withstand more punishment.
Simply a matter of preference both have strong points and weakness's.

Default very harsh is a bit much, quart uses them on their q's as well as focal top of the lines...

if they were so harsh, you wouldn't find them on $1200 speakers. titanium has little to no flexure which creates excellent reproduction.

Default many people find quarts to be harsh, but not focal

WHich just shows it's more than the tweeter material itself.

I agree. If they were not suited to reproduce sound well, they wouldn't be made.

Default people keep saying that about quarts and...

i have had no problem with any of the 3 sets i have had being bright. they definetly are not the warmest speakers around, but what quarts are you guys talking about? bargain basements? all my reference lines (comps, coax, etc) have been fine, with excellent imaging. though i REALLY like boston's older pro's, really nice and warm...

Default talking about the reference lines

Or whatever they called their highest end speaker anytime in the past 6 years. I always see at least 3 or 4 people say "quarts are harsh" whenever someone mentions buying them. I can't accurately say because I've only demoed them in a sound wall and not in a car. It's all personal opinion obviously. Plenty of people thing they're nice and warm, and other thing they're overly harsh when compared to what else that you can buy for the money.

I'm saving my pennies for some Diamond Audio's.

Default I've had the Q's, and...

I though they were harsh as well...but then i bridged my amp (Phoenix gold ZX450) and used it to run solely those speakers, and then they sounded sooooooo sweet. There was approximately 250W RMS going into them. Turns out that the extra power helped balance out the midrange, and everything sounded real nice afterward. As for the focals....mmmmmmmm....those are yummy...

It is a matter of sound taste. What "sounds" good to one, might not sound good to another.
