Default White noise from CD changer as car picks up speed.- help

I recently installed a glove box CD changer to go with my Nav Plus. Both the Nav and the changer were purchased from Europe and are to euro specs.

Problem: When the CD changer is playing I can hear a white noise that get louder as the car accelerates. Does anyone know what causes this sound?

Default Ground...

Check your wires; make sure that the DIN cable hasn't been cut, broken or anything.

Default sorry, I'm not up on my stereo installs - what is a DIN cable?

I assume it's the cable I connected to the head unit that runs to the changer - correct?

Default It's usually black... don't know for sure though.

Though it most certainly will not be striped.

Default I had this problem on a retrofit Panasonic changer using the Audi bus cable

The problem stems from the feeble mini-ISO connector at the HU end. The left/right signal cables aren't screened all the way into the HU, so at the most critical point (the bit nearest the engine) the very low level audio from the changer/phatbox are exposed to engine interference.
You may want to try connecting an additional short earth strap from the chassis to the HU chassis. In the end I rewired the audio with some quality RCA cables soldered directly onto the PCB inside the HU. A bit extreme I know but it was driving me mad.
