Will a TT Concert-II Head Unit work in a 99 A4?...long

There have been a couple up for sale on Ebay. They seem pricey for just a CD player/radio - $200+ and there are a ton for sale on Ebay.de. I just bought a used '99 A4 and the prior owner trashed the OEM concert-I radio installing an Alpine HU that looks like crap. Just wondering if I could replace it with the Concert II unit which is nicer and then I wanted to add either a Phatbox of Ipod interface. Any compatibility problems with using the Concert II? Also if I buy a Concert-I HU with no radio code amd I screwed? Can the code be recovered from the radio S/N? Also, could I source an equivalent head unit from Grundig. TIA

You would need to add a CANBUS adapter to convert igntion and light to CAN messages that the Concert II understands. Not easy to get in the US. Dealer can get radio code based on serial number but some require the radio to be installed in the car to do so, and some won't do it at all.
