So I need to replace my front speakers in my 2001 A6 2.8. I removed the stock one and went out and bought a pair of replacement 6.5 Pioneer speakers. The size of the speaker is exactly the same but the stock one has a plastic, unremoveable, bracket on it that has the three holes used for mounting. Without this bracket, I'm not sure how to mount the new speaker. Any thoughts?

Do I dremel the stock speaker out of the bracket and use the bracket with the new speaker or is there a place to buy just the bracket or do I even need the bracket at all?

I STFA but couldn't find the answer.

and about 10mm wide all round. Then glue & screw each pair together so you have two 36mm rings. Then use 6mm MDF and cut two more rings to create a flange using the OEM speaker as a template for the outside shape. Glue & screw each one to the others and then you can mount the whole thing using the original screw holes.
I did this in my B6 A4 and it works a treat. I seem to remember you have to use some dynamat to even out the mounting surface of the door to prevent any air gaps.
