Yet another Ipod install question... (A4 B5 2000 Bose)
Just got an Ipod for my birthday (30gb), and would love to be able to use it in the car. it's a 2000 A4 w/ Bose and trunk-mount CD changer.
I have done a bit of research, including searching the boards and tech articles, as well as the "monster" comparison post.
It seems my best option is the Dice setup from denison:
http://densionusa.com/merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=DU&Pro duct_Code=i-Audi-R&Category_Code=DICE_IPOD_AUDI (link below)
$160
It also has a $60 mount option that has a video cable for my nonexistant LCD screens. I assume it wouldn't be too hard to fit it up to another bare-bones mount that just holds the ipod in place, and mount it like many others have done next to the controls.
My reservation is that I don't *really* need that much control over my ipod. The Dice link has tons of nice features that I either can't use (video, text out, steering wheel control) or don't really need (aux inputs, snazzy interface).
When it comes right down to it, I need 3 things:
1) Sound quality
2) Easy installation (I'm an engineer, so some techie stuff doesnt' phase me, but my tool collection at the moment is pretty minimal)
3) Charges ipod
With this in mind, any suggestions on some other set up to look at? I'd rather stay away from an FM transmitter setup, and cassete setup is right out due to sound quality.<ul><li><a href="http://densionusa.com/merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=DU&Pro duct_Code=i-Audi-R&Category_Code=DICE_IPOD_AUDI">Dension DICE ipod system</a></li></ul>

Go for an Icelink Plus on eBay ...
DICE is apparently better than Icelink (according to a post further down the page) with more functionality, etc. But you said you really just want good sound quality and charging.
They were flogging Icelink Plus for $15 shipped several weeks back on eBay but that's history now. You can still get them from others for approx. $50. It will do what you want and works really well.

Do the ones on ebay work with the newest ipods (gen... 5 or 6, whatever is newest)?
Heh, seems like I have bad timing. The icelinks they're getting rid of on ebay work with the newest ipods? (G6?)

What's G6? ...
They work with a G5. Not sure about the G2 Nano. Icelink does not have a cradle for the G2 Nano anyway. The plug may still be the same.
Anyone out there tried plugging a G2 Nano into an Icelink?
