Default Help me fellow Aussies!

My father and I went to look at cars for myself, we have virtually limited it to the Audi 80/90 or the E30 BMW 318iS (1990-1992 model).

Apart from the natural bias that I expect from the owners of this board have any of you got some sound advice?

I have my heart set on an Audi 90 Quattro however it was only ever sold in Australia in B3 form as I understand it. For a relatively similar price I can get a B4 Audi 80. What do you think I should go for? Audi 80 Quattros are quite rare here, so they aren't really an option.

Any other suggestions? BTW how does the B4 differ from the B3 in terms of looks?

I looked at the historical model guide section, and the following features were listed:
* Air conditioner
* Tinted glass
* Electronic cruise control with resume
* Dual power mirrors with defog feature
* Electric rear window defogger
* Power windows with rear lockout and one touch down driver's window
* Retained accessory power to windows and sunroof
* Power central locking system including trunk
* Front reclining seats with seat height adjustment
* Front seat head restraints
* Leather upholstery
* Folding front center armrest (N/A with ski sack option on 90 quattro)
* Fold down rear center armrest
* Tachometer
* Backlit instrumentation
* Digital clock
* Trip odometer
* Coolant temperature gauge
* Intermittent wiper mode
* Illuminated glove box, trunk, lighter, and ashtray
* Day/night rearview mirror
* Lockable fuel cap and glove box
* Illuminated vanity mirrors
* 3 map/reading lights
* Front 3-point seatbelts, with height adjustment
* Rear outboard 3-point seatbelts
* Automatic front seat belt tensioners
* Retractor for rear-center seat belt
* Wood appliqué for dashboard and console
* Wood shift ****
* Leather steering wheel/shift boot
* Time delay courtesy light

We don't have leather upholstery on our Aus cars do we? Also do our cars have sunroofs?

Audi Quattro 20v.

I really dont think BMW 318i's are that crash hot... maybe look for a bigger engine model if you are keen?

Leather? I think that leather was an option for like 3 or 4 grand so you wont find many (Dont quote me on this, for B3's yes but for b4's?)

Sunroof was optional on B3's (20v I have one ). B4's?

Cheers

You will pay a lot more for equivalent performance BMW over Audi 80/90.
Where are you - I am considering selling my 90Q20V here in Perth. Also I know of a 1994 V6 quattro with low kms for sale here. Problem with B4 quattro is that I do not think they have lowered sports suspension and power is not great for engine size.

I had a 318is E30 and I still think they look great when lowered etc. No power though. The "is" has a metal timing belt so beware of other models that don't which require big dollars to replace frequently.
How much are you planning on spending?? A '97 A4TQ would cost you in the mid to high 20's with lots more potential....bias of course ;-)
