Default Tyre dilemma....

I just put Michelin Pilot Sport on my B6 A4, which are great, but cost me $1700 for the set (225/45ZR17). This didn't bother me, coz at the time I had no intention of buying another car...

But then the dealer has offered me an ex-Audi B6 A4 3.0 multitronic, which I'm going to buy. It's done 15,000km and is shod with the exact same wheels I have, and Michelin Pilot Primacy tyres. They seem a tad noisy (after 2 days' and 300km experience).

My dilemma is - do I get my wheels and their brand new tyres put on the new car, or are the Pilot Primacy's much better tyres?

The PP's are 235/45ZR17, which should be interchangable with 225/45ZR17, but the load rating is 93Y, whereas my existing PS's are 91W.

Can I swap, and should I? Which is the better tyre?

Default The load rating is too low on my old tyres, so it's a no go.

Pity, as I spoke to the place that sold me the tyres, and they reckon that the Pilot Sports are much better than the Pilot Primacy.

Ironically, after getting back into my 'old car', I reckon the Pilot Sports are noisier than the Primacys, when at first the Primacys seemed noisier.

I was at the adelaide show tonight and talking to the bridgestone stand people. Got a GREAT Quote for Potenza G3 and the sales dude (says Jason mentasti on the quote) reckoned it was a decent tyre. Told him I had a European Michelin (car was imported by me) on at the moment that I was very happy with but wanted to try a different tyre in a couple of months time.

Anyway their SA headquarters are on the cnr of grand junction and South rd, tel 8348 9177. Sure they can be more helpful than you current shop.

Oh yeah I've only been in adelaide two years and still exploring the Barossa etc. How about meeting up for a drive on a sat/sun when you get a chance? e-mail me on robin411@hotmail.com and we can sort it out. cheers
