After spending two solid weekends painting my son's rooms, I decided to take care of my other baby.
I've owned this car for over 8 months and this is the first time I've been able to wax and polish the exterior (shame on me). The blue tape came in handy because I really hate how wax can leave those white stains on the black rubber molding etc. This tape job only took 30 minutes to complete. Not a bad time investment if you are someone as **** as I.
I even waxed/polished my wifes' 3 series. Which by the way, has never been waxed or polished in the five years that she owned the car. She couldn't believe the results. On both cars, we used Meguires Cleaner/Wax and Polish.

Nothing like those water beads! Looks great!
I detail literally every weekend and could never survive that kind of masking routine...
You might consider:
- Use a 'rubber friendly' wax. One Grand Blitz won't leave that chalky residue. Or,
- Use a rubber treatment after waxing. One Grand ERV can be applied to the exterior rubber to bring back the matte black finish should you get some wax on it.
- You'll likely get better results and an easier time if you 'wax on / wax off' a panel at a time. And consider using a micro fiber cloth to remove wax.
- Last, moving forward, if you use a detailing spray after you wash, you might get your new coat of wax to last alot longer...not eight months, but certainly more then eight weeks!
Good luck!

It was in the middle of the adhesion guide. Icouldnt find anything else that was BLUE at home depot in 3M tape.
The 3M LOW adhesion tape was a yellow color.
