This morning I scraped the bottom corner of the door against the sidewalk. It is very minor and can only be noticed if you kneel down and look at the bottom of the door. Should I leave it as it is or do something to at least prevent rust? I heard that clear nailpolish can help but I also read that it can make things worse if it is not compatible with the paint. Any suggestion?

It will never hurt anything to put nail polish on it. It will seal out the elements but the solvents are low in durability.

I would simply get some touch up paint and take care of it that way.

Bottom line...yes, you want to seal it in and protect it from the elements and corrosion right away.
