Default BTW, some of the folks on this forum are of the same mindset as you

(myself included)..."it doesn't matter how much it costs to keep my car looking superfresh!" :-P Those people have probably spent over $1000 in detailing supplies, but I'm fairly confident that with less than a $500 investment in supplies, and some of your precious time, your car will look outstanding.

Default I totally agree...

You can stick with all meguiars or Mothers products and make your car look outstanding. Its the time and prep that makes the car look good. With a brand new car that is unwaxed, it is hard to even see what panels have been waxed, nevermind what wax is which.

If you have a heavily oxidized beater, then certain expensive products can work miracles, such as Klasse AIO (which is not all that expensive). Maybe mother's cleaner wax can achieve the same result even? You won't see results like these on brand new cars however.

Yea I have about 150-200 bucks worth of stuff right now. But I want to get serious with the new car. Just wanted some opinions before I started ordering stuff. Thanks everyone for all your suggestions.

Hehe the detail bug has bit you! I wish I lived where you lived because I'd love to go down there and help you with your new car..in the best color.....Nogaro!

Just curious, how come you got the Vac'n'blow? Won't a shopvac do the same thing for like 1/4 of the price?

Default Re: No porter cable?? :-(

My uncle has a couple buffers/polishers that he uses on his cars that I can barrow for the time being. I am gonna buy one in the next couple weeks hopefully.

Default The porter cable is idiot proof...

other polishers probably aren't. If this is your first time putting a machine on your paint, I would avoid and standard rotory polisher.

www.coastaltool.com offers the best deal on the PC polishers. They throw in the 6" velcro backing plate and counterweight, which would cost you an additional $20 elsewhere. If you find a better deal elsewhere, but still need the 6" counterweight...let me know. I have an extra one lying around...I bought a bunch the last time I drove by coastal tool (because their shipping prices on these are crazy stupid), and offered them up on the detailing forum for $4 ea. (shipped).

Default The detail bug has re bitten me...

I used to do a fair ammount on my A4 but got lazy....Time to do things right. I got the Vac n' Blow cuase it seems like a fun toy, and I love toys. Really no major reason besides that, and it gets good reviews
