Default Any suggestions for cleaning off bugs that don't involve bug/tar remover?

Guy on another forum in British Columbia has an issue with lots of bug debris on his car. The buildup is tough to clean off after a few days, but there are so many bugs that he'd basically be reapplying his wax every time he washed the car if he used bug/tar remover. Any ideas that wouldn't strip wax? I suggested something like a strong car wash/water solution sprayed on with a spritzer bottle and left to soak for a while, but that was just a WAG. Any recommended products?

Default I know this sounds dumb

but the easiest thing is to not let them build up and bake in. Might also help matters if he used a "stronger" synthetic type wax making it easier to clean.

Default 2nd

if the bumper is well waxed, you can take some warm water and a good shampoo and wipe down the bumper. should only take a couple of minutes, and if you do that every day the build up shouldn't be too bad. maybe follow up with some QD. no reason you can't do that without having to wash the whole car.

a lot of work? sure, but then so is reapplying wax every week.

Default Target carries MF bug removing towels.

They have an aggressive waffle that works well on bugs, yet doesn't scratch the paint.

Default Oh this makes me nervous

aggressive waffle that doesn't scratch? Hmmm, sounds too good to be true.

Default Luckily, in So Cal we don't get major bug hits

but it is an occasional problem. I just hit them bugs with some QD and let it sit for a while, then wipe off as many as possible. Maybe QD again in extreme situations. I find the remainder come off at the next wash anyway.

Default SONAX newer shampoo and two sided sponge are formulated for that

Hi,

SONAX newer shampoo, the Xtreme line's Active Shampoo 2 in 1 was formulated to do a better job at that and their 2 sided sponge can be a great tool for exactly that purpose.

You will find more information here:
http://www.sonax.com/sonax-e/katalog_product.php?show_cat=6&show_product=21 4200
http://www.sonax.com/sonax-e/katalog_product.php?show_cat=10&show_product=4 28000

But go to the web site of the North Amrican company that imports SONAX and you will find the same product under the "Jacques Villeneuve SONAX Concentrated Auto Shampoo 2 in 1. This Auto Shampoo has been formulated to remove the most stubborn dirt, including insect deposits when used undiluted. When used along with the white side of the SONAX two sided sponge, the insects deposit does wash out pretty well. The best protection is of course a good wax protection on that area.
It could be a good idea to apply one or two extra coats of wax in the trouble areas of the car (front part of the hood, etc.) This would ease up the removal of insects residue.

The products mentionned above can be bought online from ppsonline.net

Have a great week.<ul><li><a href="http://www.newtownsales.com">http://www.newtownsales.com</a</li></ul>
