Default Anyone skip the 1st process on Meguiars 3 step?

is it okay to skip the 1st step (only use the cleaner a few times a year) and then use the polish 2, and then the wax, 3. In other words, if i wash the car, use the polish, then wax, is that a good combo? that paint cleaner is a pain to get off. also cant be great to use often for the surface of the car right?

the meguiars wax is fine. i have tried the blue zymol, but it left a residue all over the place.

Default Fine to skip, especially if your paint is already clean.

Although I find that the 3 step (I assume you're talking about the Deep Crystal System) wax is at the bottom of Meguiar's quality wise. Gold class or hi tech yellow should give you a better shine, although the hi tech doesn't last that long.

Default i see.....

what if i used the 2nd step polish, and used a much more high quality wax. what kind of wax might that be? other than the better meguiars you told me about.

the way i understand it, zanio and 3m arent a "wax"

Default I'm not so sure...

I don't think zaino is a wax in the normal definition, but I'm pretty sure 3M is. If you're going to be ordering away for more expensive detailing compounds, it would probably be worth it to get some IHG too. Meguiar's Polish is really good, but IHG will be better.

Notice the Meguiar's "New Paint" package does not include Step 1, just Step 2 and wax

Default If you want to do your same procedure with Meguiar's use #7 glaze and #26 wax

if you need to polish with buffer use #3 machine glaze

Default Is OK to use #3 with a random orbit buffer (i.e. Porter-Cable)?

The instructions on the web site specifically state that it should only be used with a rotary buffer, but I am unclear on why that would be necessary. The instructions on the bottle are not so specific.

I'm not sure, it's not very abrasive but then again I never use RO buffers for anything . . .
