Default Are baby wipes safe on paint? Specifically...

I use them in a pinch to clean bird crap off my car. But I don't know what detergents are in the baby wipes, so I'm not certain that it's safe for the paint. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
Tony

Default I wouldn't wipe bird crap off my car without serious lubrication - it scratches like a madman.

I'd just go with some quick detailer and a microfiber or something else that can lift the poop away. That's what I use.

Default Yeah, that's what I normally do too, but...

there have been a couple of times when I did not have the Quick detailer handy. And since I always carry baby wipes in my trunk, I went ahead and used it. I know this is not the preferred way to do it, but my question was really about the safety of the baby wipe (and it's associated detergents/lotions) on the paint.

Thanks,

Tony

BTW, I keep the baby wipes handy so that I can wipe my hand (or other body parts) down after activities like mountain biking etc.

Default I wouldn't worry about the detergent/lotion (v. mild), but it's a synthetic cloth.

On the other hand, if the choice is between leaving acidic bird crap on the car or taking it off quickly with a wet baby wipe, I'd probably use the wipe.

But for just this sort of thing, I keep in my trunk a cheap plastic pencil box (about 1" deep) from Office Depot, with a sample-sized spray bottle (think small) of detailing spray, the same kind of bottle filled with Eagle 20/20 glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Ready for any kind of little crap that comes along, in the space taken up by a large paperback book.
