Default Between waxes/washes.

Every morning, well almost every morning, I usually wipe the car down with an absorber just to get it clean between waxes/washes if looks dusty or it has some fingerprints or what not on it before I go out. I'm getting the feeling that I should use some quick detailing spray instead of just using a damp absorber. Would running the absorber over the dust cause scratches?

Just got a dark blue A4 and I don't want to start off on the wrong foot.

Default You are scratching/swirling the crap out of the paint with or without quick detailer

You've probably already done some damage.

Default agreed... if its not clean, dont go wiping it.

The California Duster (which is hotly debated, but many folks like) is a btter solution than what you are doing, but as a rule of thumb, dont wipe off a dirty car.

Default 2nd. The only "safe" way to have a freshly clean car every day...

is to wash it every day. Which I haven't seen anyone do... yet.

Default I don't see a need to wash more than once a week.

I love having a clean car but I'd rather just do a really thorough and complete wash/dry once a week rather than trying to obsess about it and keep it perfect every single day.

Default You should definitely NOT be using the absorber. That thing is for drying only. It has zero plush

which means all that dust is just being rubbed all over your car. At least use a plush MF towel/quick detailer if you wish to wipe down the car daily. I would not recommend it though and just wash it weekly.

Damn, I knew it. I had a silver A4 before this one and I didn't see what I was doing. Thanks for the solid advice. Once a week it is. Now I gotta go get some stuff to get the swirls/scratches out. I'm glad I asked now rather than later.

Default What about taking the car to a coin wash and just spray down every couple days?

Will this be bad for the paint as well?
