Default Headliner, Headliner, Headliner!!!

I’ve been detailing cars since I was 14 years old, professionally since I was 16. I’m 40 now. The best advice I can give you is to make sure you clean the headliner. Pro tip: Always use what is called the dry scrubbing technique which involves the cleaner of your choice being sprayed onto a rag and gently but vigorously scrubbing the material very thoroughly. Follow that up with a VERY deep cleaning of the entire interior paying special attention to any fabrics in the i.e. carpets, seatbacks etc. allow the entire interior to dry, buy an odor bomb (meguiars works fine, but there are better professional options out there) remove your cabin air filter, when you’re ready to set the bomb off let the vehicle run for a few minutes with the heater on full blast on the floors and defrost to open up the pores of the fabrics and leather, set the bomb off following the instructions on the package and you should be good as new.

Cheers!

To add…. Do not steam the headliner! You will ruin it! Don’t forget to put a new cabin filter in when done. Run the bomb without the filter installed as well.

All surfaces will need deep and thorough cleaning - this should include the use of steam cleaning and carpet extraction.

Agree with both of the above - car needs a serious deep cleaning to have any chance of reducing the smell.

I would inquire at local pro detail shops, especially ones with solid google reviews with pictures.

I've just purchased my first Audi, a 2017 CPO Q7. Unfortunately, the car REEKS of cigarette smoke.
