Default CLAYBARS ROCK -- remember my sandpaper and grainy white paint?

you guys remember my ****ty *** paint? all the white grain and nasty stuff that made it feel like sandpaper?

i claybarred my hood... now its SMOOOOOOOTHE like it should be. feels soo good. it took out the white grain and i can see my face in it now too!!

AHH thanks for the advice guys! i bought the mothers clay bar kit btw. do other brands work better? i thought this one did very good.

im not done yet though i still have to do my fenders and doors.

but i still have white stains in my paint though. is that hard water? i dont know what it is. but it didnt come off... how do i get rid of em? they look like miniature comets. u know with the whole coma and tail.

what will get rid of that?

thanks again guys!!

Default For newer paint, non-abrasive polishes/glazes work well

However, since yours is a bit older (i.e. older than 5 years), you may need to use a mildly-aggressive "cutting" paint cleaner like 3M Perfect-It Rubbing Compound or Meguiar's #2 Fine Cut Cleaner.

The rule of thumb is: start with non-abrasives and work your way up. This is what I would do:

1) Buy 3M Imperial Hand Glaze or comparable product and use as directed. This should get rid of light swirlmarks and bring out a greater depth of shine in your paint.

2) If there is still hazing, water spots, or swirl marks in your paint, move on to something more aggressive like 3M Swirl Mark Remover.

3) If there are still blemishes in the paint (other than paint chips and heavy scratches), move up to a light rubbing compound like 3M Perfect-It Rubbing Compound or Meguiar's #2 Fine Cut Cleaner.

Hopefully, (1) and (2) will do the job. If not, use the product in step (3) very carefully and follow the instructions to a tee. Using rubbing compounds is very risky -- although it can yield a pretty much brand-new finish if used correctly it can cause more scratches if not. Good luck and post results when you're done.
