Hood insulation

Hood insulation
Over the years I have noted that insulated hoods hold up well regarding paint finish and wax. Un-insulated hoods quickly go to Hell in a hand basket.
I have a new vehicle with an un-insulated hood and am wondering if anyone here has had experience doing it yourself. I'm thinking 1/4" closed-cell polyurethane foam would be good, but, how to affix? If it comes off while you're doing 70, you's got a problem. Any suggestions?

Liquid Nails? J-B Weld? You may be confusing cheaper cars and cheaper paint with Audis too.
That stuff is on the underside of the hood for sound insulation as far as I know. You may want to salvage the insulation from an Audi hood or diesel pickup truck at a junk yard.
