Default How to get rid of cloudy black paint?

Hi folks,

I've got a '00 B5 (black) that's been sitting outside for almost a year.

I've tried polishes and paint cleaners, with and without a orbital buffer, with no luck...

The paint is smooth to the touch afer a quick touch-up with the clay bar, but it still looks cloudy when viewed under certain conditions.

Any thoughts? Do I need to go to a more serious compound?

Thanks,
Matt

Default Basically, any type of light. It didn't look like that before the abuse of sitting outside...

for 12 months.

I'd have to say it's just old age and oxidation...probably not coming back from that

Default My experience is that Black is not pure...

It will always have a shade of grey, especially under certain bulbs and lighting. I've owned 2 black cars (currently have a black '04 Audi).

If I were you and you really wanted it to get as black as possible, I would...

- Polish down to a fine polish like 106FF
- Glaze (I'm going to give One Grand Omega Glaze a shot).
- Finish with Carnuba Wax (I'm going to give my old favorite, One Grand Blitz another showing...

Default paste waxes tend to leave a very light cloudy appearance over a black car..

It is the nature of most carnauba waxes.

A properly cut and polished car with a synthetic wax/paint sealant/high grade paste wax will not have a cloudy appearance.

Default Kimchee I have to question something...

I agree that you have to properly cut and polish a car.

- BUT -

"A properly cut and polished car with a synthetic wax/paint sealant/high grade paste wax will not have a cloudy appearance."

Is the key word in there... "synthetic"?

Are you saying that properly polished and topped with Synthetic (1Z, Zaino, FK 1000P or ....) would result in a car that's pitch black in appearance?
