Default I have a carpet 'deep-cleaner' but I'd really like a true steam unit....

I googled around and most of them are $1000+!!! WTF!! The Bissell I have now was like $160, it does pretty well, but I have a steady stream of clients now, I'd like something better.

Ideas?

Default He said "true steam". What you're talking about is a hot water injection (spray) unit.

I'm assuming he's choosing his words carefully enough that he isn't confusing "steam" with "hot water".

Default If you have a steady stream of customers -- try the units sold on TOL.

Yes, they're expensive, but if you're running a legitimate business, the purchase of the extractor will be a deductible business expense. TOL's "Sensei" model is among the best mobile units around. Comes with excellent attachments for use in cleaning most every part of a car/truck. And its on sale!

Top Of The Line

Default True steam will damage carpet and poss. destroy any carpet glue

Resulting in the carpet streching and getting large wrinkles in it.Used to write up ins. claims.Cant believe believe how many people tried to use real steam and ruined their carpet and everthing under it too.

Cleaning carpets it's best to use the hottest WATER available, steam is a vapor and as both gruss and RickM have suggested is detremental to carpet fibres, its backing material and the adhesives used

Default interesting, I never thought of that. Thanks.

Right now I guess I'll stick to my hot water extractor type deal. Maybe I need to find better detergents....

Default this makes perfect sense

why saturate carpet to "clean" it? It will never dry out again.
