Default I want to touch-up a kerbed (curbed?) alloy, but cannot find the paint code...

Specifically, talking about the A5's 19" Y wheels. I kerbed the rear-passenger side wheel, but only had a few layers of the paint chip off. The rim itself is intact, but there's a roughly 2-inch long and 1-inch wide (at it's widest point) patch of bottom-layer paint (I don't think it's even the base coat, these things seem to be loaded with layers...though it probably is). I'll take a picture later to illustrate.

Point is, I want it done myself, because whoever I take it to will take forever to do the job and it would be an unnecessary expense considering I can easily do it myself.

So, who can help me with the paint code for the 19" Y Audi wheel?

Default They have never (in recent history) published paint codes for the wheels.

Some have trekked down to the local Pep Boys to find a "close" match, but what you're describing sounds like a two layer paint job, which would probably be the shiny silvery finish Audi and Infiniti uses on some of their wheels. Not sure where to find a color that resembles that top coat.

Default 1Z Silver paint matches German automaker wheels.

<a href="http://www.autogeek.net/wurth-1z-combo.html">Clicky</a>

I've seen a few people use this paint and it matches OE perfectly.

Default There is more than one silver used on Audi's...

The conventional silver (metallic flake) is probably what that stuff is. The 01 A4's, a few others and possibly the wheel he's talking about might be that flat silver (not metallic flake) paint. When he mentioned the top layer of paint was gone but the underlying paint was there I got a little suspicious. I don't think he's talking about the same paint used on 90% of the Audi wheels.

Default You could try these guys

Hey, longtime lurker, first time poster. These guys refinished two of my BBS S4 wheels (the optional ones that you could get on B7s) and they came out great. They actually powdercoat them, which they say is more durable, although nothing will really help against curbing! Vikingwheel.com

Default I could be wrong, may just be the wheel's bare metal showing through, but the color is awfully close

to the rest of the paint. It's just chipped down a few layers. The wheel itself isn't scratched at all.
