Meem/Granite-Granny acid update......
Sorry for the delay, but I was out of town and wanted to ask the detail crew at my car club the brand of acid they used before responding.
They use "Savage" acid diluted 5 to 1 for water spots and 2 to 1 for wheel cleaning. They simply wipe on the diluted acid with a MF cloth and immediately wash the area with soapy water to remove the acid. This process is repeated until the water spots are removed.
To be perfectly honest, their results look great after the acid wash, but they seem somewhat unconcerned with clear removal. That and the fact I couldn't find any information on Savage acid leads me to trust Meem's write up technique more than the guys at the detail shop.

I wouldn't use the acid either...
I've seen lots of Porsche calipers (and a set of brand new SL55 wheels) ruined by using the wheel cleaner at power wash places on hot wheels and brakes, and I'm sure that's pretty weak acid.
