Got my D3 back from detailer and noticed that the inboard driver's side air vent tab was missing the silver colored insert that all recent Audis have on air vent tabs. Short of ordering a new vent assembly for $300 and another $100 or so to install, can anyone recommend a source for the small tab? My assumption is that it is plated plastic or maybe metal. I can only imagine how a detailer could have dislodged this piece, as it was solidly in place and I know this because of its proximity to the steering wheel. I seriously doubt that a rag caught on an edge and removed it, but I suppose that anything is possible. A shame to spend $400 on a small trim piece.
FWIW, the detailer did not accept responsibility for the damage and the detail shop was part of an autobody repair shop. Wonder if they just used my car for parts?
(Don't know before posting if photo of vents with missing piece on driver's side is big enough to see well.)
