Default My 1999 Brilliant Black ( I think) A4 needs help...

I bought the car used and it has several scratches and dull spots in it. I need to know the procedure and products to bring this baby back to its original luster ( as close as possible that is). I know many people use Meguiars and other brands so ALL oppinions are needed and welcomed. TIA

Default My list (which I use on a '97 brilliant black)

1. P21S or Meguiar's Gold Class car wash.
2. Mother's or 3M Perfect-It clay bar to remove surface impurities. Also gets the windshield perfectly clean when you're washing the car.
3. One Grand Special Touch for water spots, bird crap etching, minor scratches, oxidation, deep cleaning, as needed. It cures many ills.
4. One Grand Omega Glaze for superficial scratches and gloss. Equivalent to 3M IHG.
5. One Grand Blitz Wax for shine and protection.
6. One Grand ERV for exterior rubber/vinyl.
7. One Grand Show-Off quick detailer for between waxings, etc.
8. Eagle 20/20 for windows.

Yes, I'd buy stock in One Grand if I could. :-D

To date I've applied everything by hand, but I just got a Porter-Cable random orbital buffer. Used it on the silver A4 last weekend with great results, so I plan to use it on the black wagon soon too.

Default Will be interested in hearing more about PC with One Grand stuff

I will likely plunk down the cash for a PC next spring. If I buy it now I'll be itching to use it all winter and will likely end up buffing my kitchen applicances

Default Thanks for your great responses everyone!

I will have to try these suggestions out this weekend. I figure $100-200 bucks on car care/paint products is a hell of a lot cheaper then a $5,000 paint job! Thanks again.

Default It really works!! Do tedk's stuff 2-3 times a year, then rewax every once in a while

the difference is amazing~!
