Default P-C users: Menzerna IP + Orange Sonus Pad = Not enough?

Here's a question for those of you a bit more experienced in the ways of the Porter Cable RO machine. I tried compounding my car with Menzerma Intensive Polish + an orange Sonus pad a few weeks ago, to reduce some of the swirling I had on the hood. I worked the hood over twice, with an initial spreading speed of 3.5, and a buff-out speed of 5 the first run, and 6 the second. It barely looked like I made any progress with the swirling. I just couldn't believe the paint was that hard, so I figure I'm doing something wrong.

Should I try some product that's a little harsher, maybe like Merzerma Powergloss, or is it time to let someone with a rotary take a whack at the car? I'm just a bit flummoxed, at the moment.

Default Hrm...

Alright, I'll have to send out for some Powergloss or PO85RD, then. Any particular things I need to change as far as application is concerned?

Default here is a link

The first page is for Men IP, the second is for the PO85RD

If it looks like this, then you're doing it right.

http://paintcare-n-detailing.com/ip.html</a

Default That's a heck of a nice link...

Makes it rather damn clear. Guess I got hung up on spreading it around at the 3-3.5 speed you normally see other sites stating. Heck, might even give the IP another try, if the speed you work the product in matters that much.

Default umm, what?

my bottles of 85RD have almost no polishing power to speak of, whereas IP has noticeable cut (and leaves behind swirls if i don't follow up with FP or 85rd).

Default actually, I am wrong.. the PO85RD is the Final Polish on steroids...

the Intensive Polish IS harsher. Thanks for the catch.

Default Have you tried...

highest setting + light pressure...

I found that it (IP + orange) works best against moderately deep swirls on my black car.
