1. Adam's detail spray or
2. soap/water solution in spary bottle
I currently use detail spray, but was wondering if soap/water would be better because: (i) presumably there is a detergent effect in addition to the lubrication, (ii) wouldn't the detail spray leave a wax residue that would leave the paint surface less receptive to sealant or other final protection (assuming you go right to that and no polishing)? and (iii) detail spray would really require a full second wash after claying, whereas using soap/water lubricant, you might just re-rinse it?
If you use soap/water, what is the mix ratio? (I currently happen to be using Adam's car wash)

No mix ratio for me, just more soap than normal. I wash the car first. Next I mix up a fresh bucket of very soapy water and suds up the car one panel and clay each panel. During the process I keep the car wet.
