Default Professional Detailing

Ok, called around and here is what I got for just outside detailing.

They all use 3 step system.

One uses autobrite cherry wax (89.99)

One uses whatever I want but recommends a wax w/teflon (130.00)

One uses #2 Meguires, then #7, then hand waxes plus seleant. (65.00)

Any comments on which one to go with?

I found on an earlier thread what to ask (# of steps used, do they use clay, what wax they use). So that was the intelligent questions I used. Thanks!

Default hoping someone will jump in here besides me....

but, this all sounds WAYYYY too cheap for it to have any value. These sound like the prices you would get at the back of the local car wash for their "pro detailing services" if you get my meaning.

autobrite cherry wax? never heard of it. could be great of it could be smuckers jam, I couldnt say, but id lean towards jam.

the second guy recommends teflon? are u cooking eggs on the car? no stick brownies? does he also use PAM cooking spray as his quick detailer?

The 3rd sounds more promising... but 65.00? Cant imagine that kind of work done the way it should costing 65.00.

Are all these guys doing clay bar step? What are the first 2 guys using as the polishing steps? It all sounds kinda vague. What state are you in? I never got real serious pricing out a pro, but a decent outside job should run about 150 minimum I think.

Keep in mind this is all just my opinion.

Default I hope it's not this ****.....

I think I would just go to Autozone, buy some clay, get Meg's Paint Cleaner, and use their High Tech Yellow wax...why pay some clown.

3M has some wax that has Teflon in it...not shure.

I prefer running my hands over the curves of the A6.... : ^ )

autobite....lol

Default It sounds very cheap, I detail here in NY and I charge for 3 steps from 155 to 230

I Clay the car, polish and seal with Hi-Temp Products. Also I also steam the interior carpets and clean/protect the interior leather. To me a ture detail is getting the outside and inside of the car fully clean not just half *** it and clean the outside only.

Default Price is only for outside...I specifically told them no inside...

My wife and detail the inside and it's pretty spotless. We're just not so hot on outside care.

While we're on the subject...what exactly is the clay for? I know, nOOb from hell. Is it for overspray?

Oh yeah, I'm in Albuquerque, NM. Most things are probably cheaper then NY!

Default clay will clean the surface of the paint such as bugs, overspray, tar, sap and other contaminants...

it is a good prep procedure to ensure that the polish and sealant will bond to the paint and leave the best possible shine.
