Default Question for the detailing gurus about removing paint specs from the car...

So my ***hole neighbor is remodeling his house, and some how (don't know how, because if i did he would hear about it) managed to get small specs of white paint all over my car. I can scratch them off with my nail, but there are soo many i don't feel like taking off thousands of them. My question is, is there an applicator or something of that sort that i can use with a rag to get this paint off? Obviously something that won't damage the clear coat. Any help would be appreciated. And to all the funny folk, yea yea paint thiner. :P

Default 2nd the clay bar suggestion if they're really tiny overspray specks.

If they're larger than that, then a solvent is probably the way to go, followed by a good wash and re-wax.

3rd the clay. Don't buy clay lubricant, just use your normal car shampoo and water.

Default Tried that once but didn't like it.

I think I used too much shampoo in the mix.

Anyway, the clay started coming apart in tiny chunks as I worked it and it was less effective than when I used a QD with it.

I think I'll stick to using a cheap QD like Megs or something.

Default Those are probably the easiest

you might start with warm/hot water on a sponge, since it's prolly latex paint and might not have set up yet.

If it has, try a product like WD-40 or Goo Gone, a mild solvent. Or even some heavy applications of Windex or similar.

Fingernail scraping is also a possibility.

As you're doing this, think of nice ways to explain to your neighbor the relationship of the concepts "wind" and "drift" to "painting." Here in LA, contractors/painters are fairly paranoid because they've gotten busted, so the first thing they do when starting on a job is to envelop all nearby cars in plastic.

Default Clay bar works great on glass as well. Just do it last...

...after you've filled the clay bar with crud from the paint.
