Default Recommendatations for getting off caked on brake dust?

I've been looking at used Audi's for my son (staying under $3K) but have noticed quite a few have caked on brake dust on the wheels.

Are wheels with years of brake dust revivable with stuff like P21S or could it be possibly stained for life and thus need refinishing?

Default Per Kimchee (obligatory salute to his detailing-ness) GoJo Reg non abrasive handcleaner<more>

I used it on some really bad wheels and it did a great job. I also had a really really really bad spare rim that I bought and I tried Kaboom bathroom cleaner and it did a very good job at getting off most of the yellowing and caked on junk. I'd start with the GoJo first. Good luck and post pics!!!

Thanks guys. Still deciding on the car to buy. Will try the GoJo handcleaner.
