Default Scratch In My Paint

I have a small scratch in the paint on my door. Does anyone know a good way to repair scratches. The scratch is about an inch long. My car is brilliant black. Any suggestions on how to fill the scratch?

Default Depends on how bad the scratch is

If its down to the primer, your best bet is to get some touch up paint. Go to your local audi dealership and ask for some "brillant black" touch up paint.

I use a sharp razor to apply it, since you want to use as little as possible. The idea is to have several small layers of paint till it is flush with the rest of your paint.

If its not down to the primer, start with something mild like Meguairs Scratch-X. I have had good luck with Scratch-X and a buffer, even on scratches that were down to the primer.

If that is not enough, you might want to look into wet sanding. Be warned this is not easy, and its not for everyone. It involves using very high gritt wet sand paper, to level out the scratch area. Followed by a less abrasive compound like 3M Swirl Remover to remove any hazing / small scratches caused by the wet sanding.

Does your fingernail catch it the scratch or does it pass right over the top?

Default It barely catches my fingernail.

But I can feel the scratch. I want to find out the best way to fill it. I know that Turtlewax has this waxt that comes with a stick (looks like lipstick) that you can use to fill in small scratches. I WOULD NEVER USE TURTLEWAX ON MY CAR!!! DON'T GET ME WRONG! I was wondering if there was something similar out there like this. Like I said, I want to fill it, and put a coat of glaze and wax over it to seal it in. Any suggestions?

Default If it caches at all you are not going to be able to really *fix* it. But you might give what Ted K

said a shot. It sounds like it would mask it very well.
