Default squeegee kids

Yesterday I was near the front of an intersection with a newly painted (3 days ago) front end that was just washed and a squeegee kid comes by to clean my windshield. I try to wave him by and even tell him that its OK and he doesn't need to wash my windshield since I just washed it in the morning. He still goes ahead and I proceed to stare in horror as I watched his half undone zipper and button on his jeans rub up and down my 3 day old newly repainted fender and at the end of his detail there is a fresh hand print on my hood, a dirtier windshield, and tons of scratches on my fender. I don't quite understand why they think they are doing us a favor when all they end up doing is making the car much worse! And they always approach the nice clean cars rather than the cars that really need a windshield washing.

Has anyone found a way to reliably but politely get them to move on? I don't want to do anything rude because they can just as easily wack your car with their squeegee and there isn't much you can do. Most of the time I nod my head or tell them verbally but on occasion they disregard that. I have thought about paying them NOT to touch my car but it just doesn't seem right to do that.

Default How about beating the **** out of them. That's not right to touch another man's wheels. I think

I'd lose it if I were in your shoes. At least in DC they just stand at the light with a cup for change and not try to do anything.

Default Yes, pay them not to touch your car. It's the only thing that works.

This is no time for philosophy. They want a little loose change, and they're prepared to wash a windshield to get it. Save them the effort and yourself lots of aggravation; the cost is almost nil. I used to do this in NYC all the time, before they cracked down on the squeegee guys. And in NYC they weren't kids.

Default No, definitely not kids...

Back when I was a poor college student, I had to drive into NYC for a remote work assignment (coop job). Came out of the Lincoln tunnel to be greeted by one of these fellas. No way in hell I was giving him my hard earned money, unless he can give me a receipt so I can turn it in for expenses. Anyway, the litte fvcker spit on my hood! The best thing they ever did for the city was to get these clowns away from the inbound city traffic.

Default lol, that reminds me of a woman that was in the same case as you.. so funny story...

She approach with his husband (he's driving) a brand new silver BMW 330Ci. The squeegee approach, she wave to tell him not to wash his windshield (the car was super clean) But he goes even if they did'nt wanted. He approach by the passenger side and by the second he start to wash the windhield, the woman (mid fourties) she open her door and smash the poor guy with her hand bag and even with the door! She was still behind the door. She hit him about 5 times, really hard. The guy smashed the door with his feet and the woman is squezed by the door. She go out and kick the guy with her foot, police arrived... All the time her husband stayed in the car. It was funny at first but in the end it was critic.

Default Thanks for the responses...

They aren't really kids either in my case. They are more like in their mid 20's I guess. Yes they are annoying and they do damage your car, but in the end its probably better just to pay them not to touch your car..I really am not about to beat anyone up heh, I think it'll just cause way more problems than its worth. Maybe next time I'll whip out my microfibre and glass cleaner and show them how its done!
I really wouldn't mind them if they asked politely if you needed your windows washed before they started!

Except its a little hard for me to do! I don't have a gun and guns aren't really looked upon very well up here in Canada.
